Runna Rulez Has the Music, But the Stage Keeps Exposing Him

Disclaimer, the editor is a fan of Runna Rulez music, the likes of Bhomba NeFleece, Ngirozi, Boyz Rangu, Zvirikwese I can f go on and on but something bothers me and listeners who attend the shows.

There’s something frustrating about watching an artist with great music fail to deliver on stage and right now, that’s the story with Runna Rulez. His catalog slaps. The anticipation for his live sets is real. But when it’s time to hit the stage, something just doesn’t translate.

His latest performance at Kayflow’s Nyamadrive EP launch was the clearest example yet. It was just… off. Nowhere near what his music suggests he’s capable of.

We have to be honest here: good music will get people in the door, but consistent weak performances will have them skipping your set. Hip hop demands presence. Your voice has to punch through the room. It’s not enough to write a great 16—you have to perform it like it means something. Right now, Runna Rulez sounds better on record than he does on stage, and that gap is hurting him.

This isn’t a cancellation. It’s a challenge. The talent is there what’s missing is the vocal discipline, the command, the urgency. Get a coach, rehearse with intention, and treat the stage with the same respect you treat the booth. Because with the right performance, Runna Rulez could be unstoppable.
