On Our Radar: Teriro Blends Afro-Fusion with Global Appeal in ‘Sugacane’
Teriro

At Riddims and Raps, we champion hip hop and dancehall, but our radar is always open to artists making waves across the broader soundscape—especially those with ties to these cultures.

Enter Teriro, a London-based Zimbabwean afro-fusion artist who effortlessly weaves R&B, dancehall, and hip hop into her music.

Having shared stages with heavyweights like Omah Lay, Naira Marley, Falz, and Reekado Banks, Teriro is steadily carving her name on the global scene. Her last single, L.O.V.E., made international airwaves, landing rotation on major stations and MTV. Now, she returns with ‘Sugacane’, a high-energy amapiano-infused track featuring Nigerian rapper Magnito.

A Fusion of Sounds & Cultures

Produced by Joshua ITETE—the mastermind behind Magnito’s hits Canada and Cartel—Sugacane carries the infectious bounce of amapiano, laced with dance melodies that complement Teriro’s smooth vocals.

The video, shot in Lagos, brings out the vibrant aesthetic of the track, aligning with the cross-continental collaboration that has Teriro stepping into the West African mainstream.

From London to Lagos & Beyond

Teriro is set to join Magnito’s UK tour, pushing her presence even further. With her ability to navigate different sounds including dancehall and hip hop influences, it wouldn’t be surprising to see her cross paths with Zimbabwe’s urban music movement.

While Riddims and Raps remains rooted in hip hop and dancehall, we also recognize artists making a mark beyond rigid genre definitions. Teriro’s global reach, genre-blending sound, and dancehall-adjacent influences make her one to watch.
