Beefy, Sucks to be you right now huh?
When everything is going well, and your girl picks a fight about nothing, I call those good relationship problems. I have a good relationship problem with ZimHipHop - Seriously, I’m about to make up a problem from scratch like Nara Smith. As a fan of Zimbabwean hip hop, I'm thrilled to see the genre thriving like never before. However, I must confess that the sheer volume of music being released is leaving me overwhelmed. It seems like every other week, a new album or EP drops, and I'm struggling to keep up. How is Beefy going to select an album of the year that doesn’t get him stoned in the Avondale shopping centre parking lot? 😭
The year started with a bang, courtesy of Holyten, Micheal Magz, and Malcom's love album, and we haven't known peace since. Voltz is gearing up to drop his sophomore album, NOP Makoni, while Bling 4's recent release feels like it was last week. RayKaz has been particularly prolific, with not one but two albums already under his belt this year, and we're still waiting for the main album 🤦🏿♂️ Denim Woods also recently dropped "Fake the Funk," adding to the excitement.
But wait, there's more! R Peels is rumored to be working on a whopping 326-track EP (I’m joking…… I hope 🥲), while Malcom is planning to drop not one but two albums, Ekasi 2 and Ekwedu 2, in the same month, bringing his total for the year to four after Ekasi dropped earlier. And if that wasn't enough, Indigo Saint just announced that he'll be releasing not one but two albums in August. Last Friday, SOTC2 dropped and topped the charts on X, and just as I was trying to fully digest it, RayKaz and Fuse hit us with a 20-track album on Monday. Listen, I'm not complaining, but seriously, Hamusi makuzvinyanya?!
Banter aside, this is undoubtedly the greatest time to be a fan of Zimbabwean hip hop. The quantity and quality of music being released are a testament to the genre's growth and vibrancy. While I may be experiencing sensory overload, I wouldn't have it any other way. WHAT A TIME 🔥❤️
Before you go! looking To add some Hip hop acts to the dedication stage. Go into the comments of this video and tell me who youd like to see. Anyone except bling 4. we have that one already 😉
